World number one tennis player Rafa Nadal has revealed that he could not be happier to be back at Wimbledon after a year away and insists that he is aiming to reclaim his title from last Years winner, Roger Federer.

Nadal was looking unbeatable last year when he suffered an injury early on in the season, an injury that caused him to miss both the French Open, a tournament which the 24 year old has won a remarkable five times already, and Wimbledon, leading to his great rival Federer winning both tournament’s in his absence.

The Spaniard has come back brilliantly this year though and has already won back his French Open crown, and his spot on top of the World rankings.

Next is Wimbledon though and Nadal will be desperate to also claim this title back after he broke Federer’s remarkable run of five successive titles at SW19 by defeating the Swiss in one of the sport’s greatest ever matches, the 2008 final.

And after suffering the disappointment of not being able to defend his first Wimbledon title, Rafa will now be focusing all his energies on this years tournament.

Nadal said: “It’s always special to play on this court.

“I’m very happy to come back to this tournament and play in probably the most beautiful and emblematic court in the world.

“I don’t feel like [it is] a defence of the title,” he said. “Roger has to defend that.

“I had the chance to defend in 2008 [but] I didn’t play [because of] the knee. That’s sport. Right now I going to try my best.”

With Rafa safely through to the second round, he will be one of the lucky players to be on the order of play on Centre Court as the Queen makes her first appearance at Wimbledon since 1977 and he admitted that the chance to play in front of the monarch would be an honour.

“For me, it is a pleasure to have the Queen here at Wimbledon. That’s very good for the sport,” he said.

Nadal is currently 223/100 with betfair to win Wimbledon with sportingbet offering 11/5 and Stan James offering 2/1.
