Aside from the common fixed odds we regularly use, you can actually find bookies offering Asian handicaps. Betting on Asian handicaps can really be exciting and rather rewarding at the same time, especially because there is no draw. It can be concluded as a mixture of money line and fixed odds betting.

The best thing about Asian handicaps is that you are actually increasing your winning chances from 33.3% to a whopping 50%; again, this is possible because the draw option is eliminated. Should the match ends with a draw, bookmakers can still determine whether you win or lose the bet by referring to the handicaps.

Let’s take World Cup match between Brazil and North Korea for example. The Asian handicap for this match is 0 : 2 ½. You can simply translate this handicap; North Korea is being awarded 2 ½ goals — against favorable Brazil — by bookmakers, meaning if the match ends with a draw, North Korea is seen as the wining bets. Another good thing about Asian handicaps is that your team don’t have to win the match for you to win your bet; the previous example explains clearly how you can win a bet on North Korea even when Brazil wins the match by 2-0.

The amount of payout is also determined by calculating your wager against the handicap for that particular match. It may seem complicated at first, but the calculation is actually very easy to understand. Let’s just safe the topic for future discussions for now.
